Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer have sent heartfelt messages of support to their former Match of the Day colleague, Alan Hansen, who is seriously ill in hospital.
Hansen, a legendary Scottish international defender, became a household name not only on the pitch but also as a straight-talking pundit on Match of the Day after his playing days came to an end.
Lineker and Hansen were long-time colleagues on Match of the Day, and Lineker delivered an emotional tribute to his former co-host during BBC's coverage of Monday Night Football.
"We send our love and best wishes to Alan Hansen, who is very unwell in hospital," Lineker said.
"He's been a great colleague and friend for many years, and we're all thinking of him and his family at this difficult time."
Shearer, who also played alongside Hansen for Blackburn Rovers, added: "We're all devastated to hear the news about Alan. He's such a wonderful man and a true football legend.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family at this difficult time."
